Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa is set in the south-west region of the island on a peninsula fringed by a lagoon on one side and the ocean on the other. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the leading authority representing travel and tourism in the world, has acknowledged the efforts undertaken by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), which has implemented a series of compulsory health measures to activate the recovery of the island’s tourist activities, an important economic sector for the country.

Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels is gearing up for the post-COVID-19 recovery phase and reopening of its resorts with a SAFE PLACE label which the Group has developed for its eight hotels in Mauritius. The initiative stems from a partnership with LIBA, an ISO 17025 accredited international bioanalytical laboratory that already carries out regular unannounced food safety and room hygiene audits, accompanied with sampling and testing, across all hotels of the Group. These audits from now on will include certain additional control measures.

Due to restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 health crisis, Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels regrets to announce the cancellation of the Beachcomber Trail 2020. Initially scheduled for 24-26 July at Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, the event has been postponed to a later date, to be announced soon. 

After taking care of guests who remained in Mauritius after the border closure and assisting these guests to return to their home countries on repatriation flights, Beachcomber has been working closely with the Government to address the priorities and provide the best possible support. The Group has agreed to let the Government use some of its hotels as quarantine centres. Additionally, its in-flight food preparation subsidiary, Beachcomber Catering, also supplies daily meals to the island’s quarantine locales and its healthcare personnel while applying stringent health and safety measures to protect its team members.

The Group has set the target of achieving zero plastic waste by eliminating all single-use plastic items from its hotels by July 2021.
